AMD phenom II 955 BE 3.7 GHz stable....

Thread Starter
As the title suggests I'm running my 955 @ 3.7Ghz stable thus far, I'm attempting to once again go for 4Ghz stable (Got it once unstable however).. First tried 200 x 18.5 for 3.7 Ghz w/ 1.35 vCore and windows BSOD after 1 of 5 completed on Intel burn test. Bumped it up to 1.375 and it seems it passed the burn test ( 5 of 5 ) but temps were reaching some fairly high numbers...

You need more Vcore for 4.0

See the validation on my sig and bump the multiplier until 4.0

How much will temperatures rise though? From what I've read you want to stay around 55 celcius with these chips and i'm already hitting that with 3.7Ghz.. it is a bit warm in the room though.

You most definitely need a better cooling solution.

A CM hyper 212+ ($29 from the Egg) is a capable CPU cooler and should get you to 4GHz.

A 212+ will most likely not be enough for 4.0ghz. It may allow 3.8-3.9, but I doubt any higher than that and even then temps will be high under stress testing.

Get a rasa kit or an h70. Of course that will mean $100-$130 plus shipping.

So, you will either need to be happy with 3.8ish as your max or spend the money necessary to reach 4.0...there really is no other option, trust me.

Well as Much as I would like to hit 4Ghz stable I think i'll stick with where I'm at, 3.7 GHz is fast enough for me ... might upgrade to bulldozer when it comes out though.
