Questions about folding... Utterly Clueless about folding.. - Page 3

Watch it for a while, it'll change as it progresses if everything is going to plan

If you installed HFM it'll work out how many points you're gonna get, and we'll tell you if it looks about right

No, that the details of someone who isn't you, you need to set it up there's a guide for that too somewhere

Good. How long did it take to get to 1% ? If you scroll back up a bit, it'll tell you the project number as well, what is it?
you can literally forget about it now, it'll work thru that unit, send the results, get you some more work etc.... and continue til you tell it to stop. If you want to do that, it's best to press ctrl+c, it saves your progress until you start it up again, but you need to be aware that units have deadlines

I followed zodac's guide on configuring HFM, it took me 15 mins to get 1%, it's past 15mins now and im not getting to 2%..

so, if i want to quit it,m ill just ctrl+c and if i want to start it again, i'll click on the program on my startup menu, aye?

Edit: http://www.overclock.net/folding-hom...mp-client.html

That guide

at the moment, my PPD is 3792, and I'm getting a percentage every 15mins, I'll assume this is normal, but, just wondering, how can somebody get more than 4000 PPD's a day? Is it because of my system?

It's entirely up to the gear/system which the client is working on. For example, if I fire up my CPU for SMP and 3 GTX 470's you're talking about 50K+ PPD. Another example is Deeeebs and his GODLY system that's pushing out 200K+ PPD

Deeeebs thread here:

http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...e-monster.html

So yeah it all comes down to equipment. Unfortunately F@H doesn't work quite as well with AMD/ATI gear as it does with Intel/Nvidia so that's a big part of it.

Anyway regardless of PPD its all going to a good cause and that's what matters.

Yeah, it's because of your system and the Work Unit that it is folding on atm. Different WU's (work units) will award you different amounts of points and just guessing by your overclock, your PPD, and your tpf, I would guess that your working on a p6701 WU, which gives terrible PPD.

< 4K is still pretty low for a quad @ 3.8Ghz, even on a 6701

I don't know the difference in architecture has that much of an impact, but for reference, my Q6600 @ 3.2 gets around 5.5K on a 6701

Check task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and see what percentage the fahcore_a3.exe is using
