No, the 470 can't max crysis at 1080p. You need a newer generation AMD card to do that, or a GTX 580.

470 will be loud and hot.

My 570 is neither of those things.

Hell it's even quieter than my old AMD 6870! :O

Either will be able to do it at any resolution but 2560x1600 (1440), but there may be choppy moments.

Edit: note that almost no site will use "Enthusiast" settings for benching because those settings will bring any card to its knees. If you want to play 100% maxed out and never experience stuttering at 1080p, you would want a GTX580 (which is still cutting it close) or better.

HD5870 and HD6870 (and higher from AMD) can both max out Crysis at 1080p, DX10, with 4x AA with absolute EASE. They don't get 60 FPS, but 35 or better average. The 470 gets 29. The 570 gets around 34.

So yeah, you either need an AMD / ATI card (5870 / 6870) or better, or a GTX580 to max out Crysis at 1080p with AA.

You can max crysis easily with a 480 or 570, i've tried it trust me.

Overclock the 480/570 and it will rape

I know that ATI cards do better at Crysis, but he was wondering about the 470 vs. 570. If I was him I would get a 6950 for 1080p if Crysis is all he worries about. I also know that anything greater than a 5850 can do 4xAA Crysis on high at 1080p- I just mentioned that "Enthusiast" (instead of high) drops your FPS by 40%ish so it's not really fair to say "I want to 100% max out Crysis!" and responding with "Ignore enthusiast settings, they don't count," when you say you want to max out Crysis.

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1061/pg6/gigabyte-nvidia-geforce-gtx-580-sli-review-crysis-warhead.html

Look at the minimum framerates here. This is without any AA. The 580s minimum framerate is 30, anything lower is sub 30s. And as soon as you turn on AA, the minimums will drop to low 20s on the GTX 580 as well.

OP, given the choice between a 470 or a 570 I would go for the 570. It is a very good card at 1080p and will max out practically everything you throw at it. If you want to spend a bit less money, the 6950 is a good bet.

Crysis maxed 1920x1200 on my rig was too choppy, even without AA

This might partly be the fault of my q6700.

eh? I moved from a 5870 to a GTX570, and the 570 handles Crysis much better then the 5870 did.

HD6870 15% less performance than HD5870 wink.gif and HD6870 can't use max settings..
HD6870 = GTX 460 + 5% OC
HD5870 = GTX 570 + 5% OC
HD5850 + 5% OC = GTX 470
