X4 955BE Stock Cooler Overclock

Hey guys,

I am currently overclocked to 3500MHz with my voltage set at 1.3375V. My temps, after 30 minutes, have peaked at 48C while running Prime95. Should I start lowering my voltage, or is this safe? The voltage was at 1.4, but I did not like the idea of it. I don't plan on moving beyond 3500MHz until I have an adequate cooler. My case temp is at 29C. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

First off, fill out your system specs in User CP.

And on the topic of undervolting, I would not undervolt you cpu if you plan on gaming, rendering or anything that will tax your system. However, if you just plan on surfing the web, watching shows, etc then yes you could undervolt to 1.32 or 1.30, though you will have to test for stability.

Note: your chip's stock voltage is 1.35v, you are already undervolting fyi

Alright, I filled out my system specs. So undervolting is not good if I am putting the CPU under stress? I have a few questions:

1 What issues will I encounter with undervolting (specifically while gaming)?
2 Does the undervolt negate the advantage of the overclock?
3 Will undervolting add life to the processor?

Thanks!

EDIT: Also, I don't know how to modify this thread title.

I am running a 955 at 3.6 Ghz at 1.35V with no problems.

Also...

The issues you will encounter while undervolting may be that your processor won't be getting enough power so there is a possibility for a BSOD to happen and it will add life to your processor but it won't be noticeable.
