M50, K518, or others?

Looking for closed portable-ish basshead headphones for listening to anything from dubstep and drum & bass to j-pop and IDM to soul, hip hop, and rap.

Should be relatively comfortable, although I'm not looking for a king-sized bed here. As for looks, nothing specific but I'd like it to look good, and I like the styling of Grados (although those are open) and the Audio Technica M50s and the ES7s. I should be able to wear them on my neck when not in use. Ability to fold flat, and a cable around 5ft or so would be nice but not a requirement.

Should be able to be powered by either an iPod nano 6th gen, or that + a Fiio E5. Not willing to go further for an amp.

Do want some good, heavy bass, but not bloated and it shouldn't overpower the rest of the music. I can also appreciate some treble.

Price is $75-$100, though if it is REALLY worth it, would go up to $120

I'm in no rush, it'll take me 3-4 months or so for me to save up for them.

So far, I am looking at ATH-M50s and AKG-K518s

if you have an large head, the AKG K518 / K81 is a no-go. It will clamp. Anyway, I'd save the money then decide at the time.

the m50 will be a much better choice. It is slightly less portable, however, the bass wont drown the rest of the music like the 518 does. Another good option would be the superlux headphones + a e5. They are not a popular brand, but make GREAT headphones for the money. Look for the HD681, HD668, or the newest one, 662.

Thanks for the replies, but unfortunately the M50s shot up in price...

What about the ES7s... they seem to be back and at $100

I'm somewhat set on the K518LEs, which are just K81DJs with a shorter cord. I found them for $60...

That's a nice price indeed. However they do clamp, particularly for large sized heads.
