Going to by a monitor for my gaming computer budget is like 100-420 maybe a lil more but not hitting the 500 range at all

What makes a monitor good for gaming i know to get low MS and that i want a 1080p, well what else should i be looking for stat wise?

Do tvs make good gaming monitors at like 30-42inch ?

The HP ZR24W

IPS panel, dirt low input lag (which is much more important than response time) and 1080P. 1ms is real gimmick and IRL performance is really 2-3ms G2G (grey to grey) response time.
TVs have much greater input lag than computer monitors.

If you really want a large monitor for gaming while sacrificing image quality, then the 27" ViewSonic VX2739wm. Dirt low input lag, IRL performance of 2-3ms response time. If you really want pure gaming over everything else (see image quality), then a 120Hz monitor.

if you want much image quality, with slightly more lag but tbh, unnoticeable really then the HP ZR24W.

brands don't matter in computer monitors really as the panels are OEM'ed left right and centre. It's like branding in graphics cards. You are buying for other features.

Anyway

Pixel Pitch - How much space one pixel uses. If the monitor is large for the resolution, then the pixel size will be larger than say a smaller sized monitor of the same resolution. The larger the pixel pitch, the less sharp the image will look.

Display Colors - how many colors it can display. 16.7 million is the standard for 24 bit color [(2^24) = 16 777 216]. Marketing fluff tbh.

Brightness - How bright it can go which affects black depth in theory What you should take out of it: Nothing. Total marketing fluff again.

Contrast Ratio - How bright (ok, technically not the right term but I'm going layman's) it is from the whitest color to the darkest colour. However these figures are always fluffed as there's no standard to adhere by. Read this: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/display_myths_shattered?page=0,1

Get the U2311H. It's IPS and with mine, I notice absolutely no ghosting what so ever in games. It's a great panel, and it's $279 at Dell (Usually $319)

120HZ will allow you to use 3d imaging from ati and such.

if it was me, i would make sure its, 1080p, 3d capable 120hz, low MS is nice, but there are some other features which should be considered for a nice balance~!
