My first pseudo-DSLR :) Sony A nex-3

Hi guys and dolls out there in OCN land.

So for $499, I got my hands on a new toy to play with. It's not as fancy as some of you gents' DSLR's, but I'm coming from a point and shoot that lasted me a good 6 years before its CCD decided to up and die. (Sony DSC-M1...which I plan on having repaired for every day shooting) Heck, I still have a Minolta MaXXum 35mm SLR that I bought in '87 that still has life left in it.

Personally, I really love its compact form factor...even though it's a mirror-less design, I've seen some absolutely lovely pictures taken with it. I can't wait to get my hands on the 55-200mm zoom lens as well as the 16mm wide-angle.

(kinda wish I had pciked up the Nex-5, but my bank account was recently whacked by a major PC upgrade...lol)

Thanks for reading! I can't wait to get her juiced up and take a few decent pics. Anything is better than the shoddy camera on my Droid 2 that I've been reduced to use...lol.

Mirrorless doesn't affect the image quality really, just how the camera itself operates and the body of the camera. Nevertheless, congrats!

That's good to know, thanks! Considering how compact it (body) is, I'd imagine the pictures won't be as ultra sharp as say a D3100 or so, but I dunno...it just smiled at me. lol

Nah, still a DSLR-sized cropped image sensor inside, which is what matters as far as image quality goes. Lacks a bit of upgradability and the DSLR form factor, but image quality should be almost the same really.

EVIL = Electronic Viewfinder, Interchangable Lens. It's the name used for "mirrorless" systems like yours
