Tax Return PC need Suggestions

Thread Starter
Ok, I'm sitting on a decent tax return after giving my money away to Big Brother all year long. I should be able to swing a $1500 build. I love to game and watch movies. I'm a little perturbed about Intel's indecision concerning sockets, so I am looking for an AMD build. A good GPU and a decent SSD-HDD is a must.

Intel's indecision concerning sockets? I really feel it would be a mistake to pass on sandy bridge.

I assume you are happy with your screen, keyboard, and mouse? I will be editing this post with a Newegg wishlist containing a great build. Or you could wait untill the AMD Bulldozer come out and grab a GTX 570 with it. But I'll put together a build for the current things that are out.

Wish List

AMD Bulldozer?
I'm also of the opinion that now is not the best time to buy. If you can stand to wait for the release of Bulldozer, you'll certainly have more options at your hand, and you'll likely be able to get more bang for your buck. Whether you end up getting bulldozer or sandy bridge or an AM3 set-up you'll be better off purchasing in a month or two.

That being said... no one can tell the future so...

New amd chip and am3+ socket, 6 months, chances are more before it will see light of day.

*edity* So if you want new spiffy gear now'ish you might just want to grab one of those new pretty intel offerings.

IDK? Intel has 1366, 1156 & now 1155. I just don't like it. My luck, I would buy one socket only to have it discontinued for another socket not yet released.

For some reason when I read the thread title I thought the OP was building a PC for the sole purpose of doing tax returns.
