Unlocked 550BE X3 appearing as Athlon?

I've unlocked and overclocked my 550BE to a triple core, but I always thought I was a Phenom II X3 450BE, not Athlon. Now it is.

I've overclocked to 3.8Ghz, but I don't think that is the problem.

Here's a picture of it - You can see the specification is a Phenom X4 B50 (One core disabled)

As long as everything else is right, they could call it a 4 eyed peglegged frog, never used easytune before, that the latest version?

I believe it is - I got it off the Gigabyte website. If I use Everest it says "TripleCore AMD Athlon X3"

I haven't experienced any differences yet. I'll try converting a video.

Thats normal I think. In CPU-Z my unlocked 555 is called a Phenom II X4 B55 and in HWmonitor its called a Athlon II X3 455.

Both programs are slowing L3 so I think you're good. I don't think unlocking the cores of a Phenom II disables the cache.

Well I'm now trying to overclock using FSB - The BIOS changes the multiplier back to auto when I got above 19.

Do I need to underclock the RAM? I have DDR2 800Mhz. Can I leave the RAM at x5.33? I have the RAM at x3.33 (667). With the overclock the RAM's at 700Mhz.

doesnt it say you have 3 threads running? maybe the program is determining the processor from that?

As for the bios changing your multi back to auto, I can't help you there cuz i dont have that board, hopefully someone can shine some light onto this situation. All i can say is update the bios to the latest version and see how it goes.

Good luck,
