GeForce GT 430

Thread Starter
I'm looking to get this card for my system:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130579

Reading the specs I started wondering... What does a "128-bit memory interface" mean, and will it work with my current mobo (Intel DQ965GF)? I kinda want to know so I don't go getting this card and having it not work in my system.

Yeah it will work fine with your system as long as your power supply isn't too terrible. Also, you can buy much better cards for that price.

What are you looking to do with it? HD movie playback? Light gaming?

I intend for a little light gaming, like COD5, but I also want a card that can handle Black Ops if at all possible. I want the best possible card for around $50 USD. I have no preference between ATI and nVidia cards and I will be getting a newer PSU soon too so power is no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Find a used 9800GT or something. Much better than any of those low profile media cards.

I would get a GTS 450 instead of a GT 430. Unless you have one of those thin cases where you need a low profile.

Also, black ops IS CPU dependent, so even with a GTS450 you'll stutter like crazy, and also that 300watt power supply is pretty terrible

True, but at least he'll get to play others that aren't CPU dependent. It all depends on what games the OP might decide to play later.

Ok well how about this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161315
And like I said, I will be upgrading the PSU in my machine soon, I'll be getting a 500W one so I will have the power. And as for playing Black Ops, would upgrading from my E6600 to a Q6600 make it run any better?

If his PC is a prebuilt, I wouldn't call the PSU terrible.

Average or mediocre is what I'd call it.

No matter how crappy-looking, they still put out stuff that's in-spec, and can hold their full load at 40C, and with everything still in-spec.

Think group regulated designs and passive PFC...

Not the best out there but it's 'legal'.
