motherboard to overclock windsor 64 X2 5200+ CPU?

Thread Starter
I have this AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Winsor CPU on MSI K9VGM-V Motherboard. I don't think this MB allows overclock.

My question, is it worth to buy a new AM2 motherboard to overclock this cPU? If so, which one?

I think what he means is that you can spend that money on a new build with a low end cpu and get better performance. A mobo will be around $50 cnd and you will need an aftermarket cooler as those 90nm procs pump out lots of heat, i still have a 4800+ or something. I can barely get 300mhz more on that with a stock cooler. So you might end up dumping $100+ on such an old proc where that money can be used to get a new processor and what not.

My 2 cents,

Thanks. make sense to me. I am looking at 2 CPU Motherboard combo at Newegg. Can you please recommend which one is better for overclocking. By the way, I do have a heatsink from AMD Phenon X6 1055t that I had replaced with aftermarket coller. Can that be used with the first combo?
