Samsung RMA from Newegg, anything I should know

Thread Starter
Hi folks,

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but it seemed related to HDTV so I figured it was right.

I bought a 40 Samsung 120Hz this week from Newegg. It seems there is definitely a problem with the screen, one side has a very noticeable gradient with fuzy and washed out image, even when viewed from straight on. See the images I attached. They are from about 6' away and straight on. Sorry its a crappy iPhone image.

Anyway, I'm really curious if there is anything I should know or any tips I should use when trying to get a replacement from newegg? Should I have to pay shipping, etc? I will certainly go through the site tomorrow to find out exactly what to do, and I'll call them if that is also possible (is it possible?). Still, I've never had to do this before so thought I'd ask if there was anything in particular I should know.

For the record, the box was not damaged when it arrived and there is no visible signs of damage anywhere.

Needless to say, I'm totally bummed;(

Since this is basically defective, I recommend calling instead of just using the automated RMA process on their site. Or at the very least, I recommend asking through e-mail while explaining that it is defective. Either way, once they understand that they sold you a defective one, they should go ahead and set up an RMA as well as a prepaid shipping label. But if you just perform the RMA via the automated thing on their site, then you'll have to pay for shipping.

The reason why it's not possible to get a prepaid shipping label automatically is just to help reduce the amount of people who would try to abuse that option.

Thanks for the information and suggestions. I've found Neweggs returns dept number and will call them Monday morning. Hopefully there won't be an issue.

This. Also the beauty of newegg is they will do an advanced RMA. Since they do ground shipping for RMA labels it can take a while for items to reach them, then get shipped out, they will ask for your credit card details, but they won't take money out unless they never get the item.

Its great, instead of waiting 1-2 weeks, I get my items 1-2 business days.

I called this morning and after 10 minutes got a live person. Their systems where down but she took my info and said she'd call back. Called me back about two hours later, processed the return, sent me a UPS return by email and agreed to send the replacement immediately with a credit card number. The second call took about 2 minutes.

Thanks newegg!

Also thanks TwoCables and Limes for the response!

The replacement came today. One day shipping, thanks Newegg. I had the old one boxed so the UPS guy took it with him. This one seems fine.

Thanks.
