Don't get me wrong: I feel that. I was the same way with my card at first. I mean the very first BIOS I used was a stock MSI GTX 470 BIOS. But here's one nice thing that I like about using an EVGA-identifying BIOS: I get to use the EVGA OC Scanner. When I had the MSI-identifying BIOS, it basically told me that I couldn't use it because I didn't have an EVGA card.

yes it is 1.21v

you will hit a wall on clocks regardless of water cooling, though. there is a point where voltage just won't help. unfortunate but true.

if your VID is below .93 it is worth it to water cool. otherwise you will hit a wall on aftermarket air and it's just not worth the money for the little OC you will achieve.

On top of that yours is a 465 flashed to a 470 so we know that it is a low binned 470. So you won't get a 950MHz oc on it, most likely 850MHz at most.

It's a good deal getting a 465 though because you saved a lot of money. Spending all that you saved on w/c for minimal gains is frivolous IMO

I'm going to WC regardless, and who knows I might just trade in my unlocked 465 for a 470 later...

If i'm going WC might as well have the highest unlock so I can go as max as the card will let me.

But EVGA OC Scanner does things that Kombuster (or Furmark, really) can't do.

In other words, having an EVGA-identifying card means that EVGA OC Scanner becomes an option which means you can try it instead of only being able to wonder about it.

with GPUs it really doesn't matter if it is 100% stable. As long as you can run kombustor for a half hour you will never have trouble gaming.

If you plan to fold on it, then that is another story and OC Scanner is recommended.
