200 mm Rad

post #1 of 8
Thread Starter
So I got this Antec 1200 and all, and I've been thinking for a long while about moving to a true watercooling loop. I came upon this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12...?tl=g30c95s667
and thought it might work good with my top 200 mm fan on my 1200 and maybe a second fan for push pull.
Was wondering if anyone had any idea on what would be the performance output of this or if I might need to mod anything or switch out the existing top fan.

Dam thats a big rad. well its got almost as much surface area as a 120x360.
12cmx24cm=288cm
20cmx20m=400cm
12cmx36cm=43.2cm
If you got a spot for it i might be worth it. as it won't be as long as 360 rad. Only thing i would be worried about is it not fitting in the top of the case. But looking at the rad pictures and the case pictures it might work. I'd do if I had a 1200 and wanted to water cool.

yeah, I was thinking maybe this for starters with just the processor and then add a 360 rad up front and 2X Wc'ed 6970s, 6990's or 2X whatever Nvidia has coming.

You really shouldn't have to mod anything to fit it into your Antec 1200. Antec themselves makes a 200mm radiator specifically for your case:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/96...?tl=g30c95s667

I'd go with Phobya radiator though. The Antec one is aluminum instead of copper like the Phobya. Only thing is you're going to have to fabricate a bracket to attach the Phobya radiator. The Antec one comes with one soldered onto it already.

Regarding performance though; I haven't seen any metrics published on either radiator. Hopefully someone will post some links to some though.

200mm fans generally have low static pressure. performance wise, youd be better off getting a dual 120 rad with some ap-15's or other high static 120mm fans

Ya I would go with the Phobya one also. You can you have a choise of which connections you want to use. And it looks like you have a choice to have them stick 90 degrees from the rad or out the end so they are sticking straight down into the case. Also wouldn't the fan screws be enough to hold it up there?

I also was thinking about getting this for my loop but I wasn't sure if the performance would be worth it. I was planning on replacing 2 of the drive cages in the front to put a 240 in there and also mounting another 240 in the back so I could fit the 200mm phobya internally. Although if I didn't get the phobya I would just be putting the 240 in the back inside. Anybody else got suggestions as to whether or not the 200mm rad is worth it?

The dimensions of the antec rad are 280 x 184 x 71mm and the dimensions of the phobya are 245x200x36mm so it should fit depending on how close they cut the width of the radiator for this case.

Lol sorry, I actually was wrong, apparently some other guy tried to put the phobya into his 1200 and it looks like it will not fit without some case modding. I guess im sticking to the 2 240s then.

Here's the link btw: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?p=18143065
