During the stress test the CPU temp rose quickly to about 57 and took about 6 minutes to hit 61oC from there under full stress I stopped the test about 10-12 minutes in on test 8 because it hit a full 62. Is there anything in regards to my goltstgat would decrease this running hot?

If I take the FSB any higher than stock, it give me BSOD about 5 min in. Could that be because raising the FSB also raises the memory mhz past the 1600mhz they are clocked at? Thoughts?

1st suggestion I have would be to DL and use ASUS PC Probe II from ASUS web site to monitor voltages and temps.

2nd. try using less Vcore, shouldn't need 1.5v for 4.0GHz, more like 1.4-1.45v. Be sure to watch your loaded voltages they probably increase, example, 1.5v in bios may climb to 1.56-1.57v under load.

3rd. yes raising the ref clock will affect everything else, go back and STUDY
the link I sent you in my second post. It explains this in great detail. You need to start out low and make small increases in one area at a time to make it stable, before moving onto another area. Start by getting the CPU stable with 8-12 hrs of prime. Maybe your cooler can't handle the voltage/temps the cpu requires to run at 4.0GHz, you'll need to stay at a max of 55c.

Okay so, the general majority has commented that I should not be running so hot and that my volts were just to high. I have decided to start again from scratch having now offically read all of the article that I was pointed to by THE SANDMAN. So here is my current issue. I decided that I applied to much thermal compound to my cpu and thats what was causing the heat. So I bought some arctic silver 5 and started again. Only this time I went paper thin and am now afraid I used to little as my idle temps rose about 4 degrees. Under full load only having played with the FSB and moved it to only 209 my cpu is jumping to 57oC quickly but it is staying there. I am being told that I shouldn't exceed 55oC with full stress test, so I am worried that I have done something wrong, perhaps not enough paste, wait now the cpu just rose to 59oC after 12min full stress prime 95! ahh Help.
