ati radeon hd 5770 vs ecs nvidia geforce gts 450 overclocked versions

Thread Starter
hi,i know this is a great gaming/hardware community and i was just wondering i am about to buy a new rig and i am deciding between a 5770 and a gts 450, now i know that out of the box a 5770 is faster than a reference nvidia gts 450, but i am considering between an xfx 5770 stock i think this is the only option since i dont have all the 5770 versions on my country and various overclocked versions of the gts 450 like the ecs gtx 450(gts 450) black edition, asus top gts 450 or the gigabyte overclocked version, would these versions of the gts 450 would be better, same or lesser range than an xfx 5770... thanks guyzzzzz

The OCed GTS450 may come close to a HD5770, but stock vs. stock, HD5770 wins.

I'd get the 5770.

Any chance of getting a GTX 460 over there, err, wherever you are?
the 5770 is slightly faster than the 450 at stock, but you can OC the hell out of the 450 (don't know about 5770 but not that much)..

If you can overclock, get the 450. Else get the 5770.

HD5770, or save up and wait for better card.

The HD5770 can go quite far if OCed properly.

Give it a little boost to the Vcore and you're on the way to 1GHz core.

Do what he says, you won't regret it my 5770s OC wonderfully.

The 5770 is faster stock and i know that the reference design 5770 ovetclock like champs, however the GTS 450 might overclock better putting it even with the 5770...

I would just go with the cheapest 1GB modell of either card. The performance difference will be minimal at most.

first of all thank you all for the input...
look guys i am newbie on this kinda stuff k, look at the ecs gts 450 black edition it has a big ass heat sink i am think on buying that and overclocked say around 950mhz, with that heatsink i wont hit the 50c mark, also considering the counterpart xfx 5770 stock which doesnt have a bigass heatsink ,the temps are like 70c at load and if i overclock it will go to the 80c mark isnt that dangerous for the card, like i said i know little of overclocking

also one more question.... overclocking reduces the life of the card??, is it more prone to fail????
