Like I said guys, I have been side grading parts for the past 6 months and I'm really sick of all the money i've been wasting. I just want to spend the money now, and not have to worry about the next best thing for 2-3 years.
SB is stupid fast, sorry for my lack of more clever descriptors. If you can swing a SB and clock it at 5ghz with a H70 you are pretty much set for a longtime.

Great food for thought guys, I think what i'm going to do is think this over until I get my next paycheck, then go from there. I'll watch for official reviews on sandy bridge and see what my options are.

Better overall, lol wut?

SB plays around with the 980x, toe to toe. What AMD chips are remotely close or even in the same area code as the 980x?

The i5-2500k has no HT, and two less cores than the 1100T, clock for clock there since the 1100T is 3.3GHz.

It's pretty clear whats going on there, 4 cores are completely demolishing 6.

I5-2500k is $225

1100T is $270 ($230 for the 1090T)

There's a bazillion benches that show SB killing it, and putting a hurt on the 980x trading blows with a chip that's over 3 times it's cost. You know how to google?

It's very close @ 5Ghz, and it's also much faster in less threaded apps.

So while it's not faster in Cinebench and other multi-threaded apps it blows the 980x when it comes to real life performance.
