Nice sources... but the only problem is that all of those programs don't utilize all of the Core i7 970/980x cores. Intel won't make a six core for socket 1155 because they still want x58 to be their high-end platform. Sandy Bridge is amazing don't get me wrong but they can't beat all 6 cores. A 970/980X can easily reach 4.4-4.5Ghz so it will demolish any Sandy Bridge processor in programs that can use all six cores.

So while it's not faster in Cinebench and other multi-threaded apps it blows the 980x when it comes to real life performance.
Pople actually use all 6 cores... Thats why Intel made the two processors, the 970/980x will still beat the 2600k in "reall life performance" depending on what the person users their system for.

I don't know about you but I don't play in Cinebench 8 hours a day. And I'm also not spending 1k on a chip lol.

Ya but can it play crysis?

Not as well as a SB chip!

OH SNAP!

Also I don't, and when I encode even on my 1090T it was faster than I could upload anyways, so whats the point?

Ever try to encode a 1080p 2 hours worth of footage? Computers aren't ment just for gaming even though thats what else I use it for.

Well let me think.

(do not play with sound high - bad audio encode too many channels)

That took me 4 or 5 minutes on my 1090T.

400% markup so we're looking at 8 hours to encode a single 2 hour 1080p video?

Seems like a waste of time even at 6 or 5 hours. Just do it while you're sleeping, total win

That's great ya wanna justify yer purchase however not a lot of people spend ample time encoding etc. And if you are doing that, and a lot, you've probably already done a cost benefit analysis which is why you chose the chip yer using.

However for everyone else, SB is an obvious winner.

Oh h*** the crysis thing again. I have a Phenom II x3 that can play crysis max out without any lag. It is not alway the cpu in gaming, but it is the computer as a whole.
