I want something that will be a bit smaller on my desktop, will draw a bit less power, and will be a bit quieter than the current rig in my signature. I want something that's almost portable--light and durable enough to LAN or transport. I don't want to sacrifice power or speed, though... on the contrary, I want this new box to do more and to do it better. We'll see.

I plan to pull my SSD and HDD from my current machine, which I'll give a new 1TB HDD before selling off. I'll put the drives and the money I get from it towards this new box. I'm budgeting $2,000 total and the difference will just come out of my pocket. Here's my list:

Case
- Silverstone SST-SG-01-S Evolution Silver + Side Window
Link | $150

Motherboard
- ASUS P8P67-M PRO P67 microATX
Link | $150

Processor
- Intel i7-2600k 3.40GHz
Link | $318

Power Supply
- Silverstone Strider Gold 750W
Link | $150

Memory
- Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24
Link | $80

Video Card
- ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/1GD5 OC
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-ENGTX460-TOP-2DI-1GD5/dp/B003WUXNPO/"]Link[/ame] | $220

Sound Card
- ASUS Xonar Essence STX
Link | $165

Video Capture Card

- AVerMedia AVerTV HD DVR
Link | $90

Boot Drive
- Intel X-25M 80GB
Link | $ --

Storage Drive
- Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Link | $ --

Optical Drive
- ASUS BC-08B1LT 8x Blu-ray Combo
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Internal-Blu-ray-Combo-BC-08B1LT/dp/B00413PHKU/"]Link[/ame] | $64

CPU Cooler
- Scythe Big Shuriken
Link | $38

Case Fans
- 4x Silverstone Suscool 80mm
Link | $60

- 1x Silverstone Suscool 120mm
Link
| $17
- Silverstone Cross Flow Fan for SUGO Chassis
Link | $20

LCD Display
- Silverstone MFP-51 Silver
Link | $110

Sleeving / Cables
Nothing will go unsleeved. Performance-PCs will be doing this for me, though. Through them it comes out to be approximately $247 to have everything done. We'll go with both Reflex Stainless Steel sleeving + white heatshrink and white sleeving + white heatshrink.

Operating System
- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM
Link | $140

TOTAL
- ~$2,019 (+shipping)

I know I'm spending more by not doing the sleeving myself, but that would just be way too much work and also beyond my abilities. So that's what I have to pay to get this thing looking hot. =) It should, too, I think.

My hand-me-down drives won't be a permanent solution, but they should do fine until SandForce-2000 fare is within reach and reasonably priced.

So that's the plan. Thanks for reading. I think this build will look good and be really versatile. Opinions, comments, suggestions?
