ALL the Tables, Tablets.........Tablets

Thread Starter
I have been looking around for a device that I can use on the go for lots of web browsing, playing lots of Android App games, and Music and the sort.

I have been looking around for quite a while now, and I think I may have found what I have been looking for, but maybe you all can guide me a little better.

I like the Motorola Xoom, Archos 70, and the Notion Ink "Adam".

My price range is no more than 500, but I would REALLY like to keep it down to around 300. And I will be buying this thing probably around May.

I use a Micro SD for storage, so that won't be an issue, I would like to see the gadget have at least 2 USBs. I will be only using it with Wifi, so 3G/4G's are out.

Honestly I am just looking for something thats quick, and simple.

I would also like to make a comprehensive list of ALL the tablets out there for future people to see just as I want now.

List:

Samsung Galaxy Tab
Motorola Xoom
Apple iPad
Archos 101/70
Notion Ink Adam
Toshiba
Blackberry Playbook
HP Slate
ASUS

Comprehensive list here for CES tablets at least.

As for which tablet, here's my thoughts. Xoom, looks amazing, stock google tablet, etc. Looks like there may be a wifi only tablet. Prices not announced yet for any model, probably not your price range (except possibly the wifi version) Avoid the Archos 70. It's not horrible hardware, but 2.2 kills it. Notion is interesting. No market, heavily cusomized UI, etc, but looks like excellent hardware. 2.3 and might get honeycomb. Can't recommend it yet, but since you are waiting for May, there will definitely be more info then.

For you, I'd say look at the Asus EEE pad Transformer. $400 for the lowest priced version. Tegra 2, Honeycomb, etc.

I just got the galaxy tab sprint 3g version from hsn, And ever sense i got it i cant put it down.. lol It pretty much replaced my laptop and netbook when im on the go and now i ony take the tab with me because it does everything i want it too do like games browsing the web, Movies which plays hd 1080 videos smooth, And the battery life is awesome on it which samsung says up too 7hours but i get more than that and i used it all threw the day, I say it problee gets like 10hours or 12hours, Depends what you do on it.

And another thing i really like the flex pay option on hsn so i don't have too pay the full price right out, And there warranty is cheap 89$ which is 3years after the 1year samsung warranty which covers drops water spills and all that.

Its also gonna gets the gingerbread firmware, And it might also get honeycomb but its pretty much 50/50 right now.

The 7in screen is also a perfect size which i was gonna get the ipad at first but after getting this i would think the ipad would be too big lol, And this has more features.

I would've waited for the new pads too show up but i couldn't pass up the hsn deal with flex pay and also got sprints 3g and im gona get 300$ back rebate.

Oh there's also a wifi version coming out which i herd it should be under 500 or 400$ which should be out soon so that would be a good option for you sense you gonna use ony wifi.

Xoom looks the best out of all the tablets thus far. Stock Honeycomb on a powerful device like that is win. I hate when manufacturers feel the need to theme certain parts of the OS, thus causing long unnecessary delays for updates to come out.

The odds of the tab getting honeycomb are far from 50/50, hate to say. I just don't see it. That said, you got a great deal it sounds like.

Ya sense it seems like it might need the duel core cpu.. Maybe someone will hack it too get it on there in the future But at least its getting gingerbread which is optimized for it.

But than again there's rumors that it requires a duel core cpu and there also rumors that there's no requirement which i hope its not because than samsung might release it on the galaxy sense they don't have a duel core version of it so maybe they think the galaxy can handle it or something, Because they pretty much release it 3 or 4 months ago, And you would think they would've release a duel core instead if needed.

But other than that im really enjoying it and its my first android and tab device. and when i saw the hsn offer i couldn't pass it up, Wish other places would have a payment plan like them.. 300$ rebate is also nice plus the 50$ movie rent coupon so pretty much i ony paid 399$ for it oh and it came with a car usb charger and a disk with software.

Battery life is insane on it tho last time i charged it was friday at 5pm than i went too work which is around 7 too 8hours and i mostly used it too watch my shows which i watch like 6 or 7 of them and watch a few youtube hd videos than did some browsing on wifi and some 3g took a video and some pics, And today i did gaming on it and browsing and tons of music streaming on last fm which its still doing and its 4:37am Sunday morning and still showing 15% of battery life which said that for like a hour so far So that alone im really happy about.

Also just saw this on the galaxy forums about honeycomb http://www.thegalaxytab.com/2011/01/...eycomb-update/

which says A few hours ago, Dan Morrill from Android Team denied the rumors through a tweet saying : “there’s no hard minimum for Honeycomb”. So the galaxy tab might get it if samsung releases it...

Xoom is nice. First to claim Honeycomb and the specs are killer. Surprised Moto actually put a stock Android build like what it did Droid 1 on 2.0 Eclair years back. Most of them are running Motoblur now. IMO it should be the best among the list.

gordesky, it probably could run honeycomb hardware wise (I'd actually be amazed if it couldn't) but samsung updating it is going to be the problem. I'm a captivate owner, and it looks like I'll unofficially get Gingerbread before I officially get Froyo. Not sure what the hacker community is like for the tab though. Probably your best bet.

Hmm so samsung is slow with updates?..

Ya from the website they have going thegalaxytabforum it seems like there's a good bit of hacking already for it, So hopefully they start hacking the firmwares and get them sooner, There's already a easy way too root it which i did already which you just click a button and that's it. So hopefully firmwares would start flowing soon towards it from samsung or from the hackers lol. But its fine the way it is now till they come
