Sell 1090t Setup for 2500k?

Thread Starter
Should I sell 1090t and CHIV Formula which is a CPU+ Top end mobo
for a 2500K and an ok (mid-range) mobo, is it worth it?

I figure I could get 180 for the Mobo and 190 for the CPU. Which gives me about $390 for a 2500k and a P67 motherboard.

If this is a good way to go, what motherboard should I get, I will throw in about $20 after the $229 CPU from Newegg, so the mobo budget is $181.

I would say no, but why would you want to in the first place?
my first impression is no.

the 2500k will be faster in some situations, but the X6 will be faster when there are more threads.

if youre 1090T runs at 4.6ghz already, then its probably not a huge jump, unless thats not a 24/7 clock. the i5 could do 4.6ghz 24/7 and will then outperform the 1090T

No. Sure it will be a little faster, but if an application actually uses multithreading the x6 will excel. Not to mention it's a massive sidegrade. Basically I think the Phenom II x6 is "good enough" for single threaded performance and great if the app is coded to utilize all 6 cores.

Not really, unless if you want a power saving efficient machine, but a 1090T will do fine.

Yer gonna be competing with all the i7 systems being sold to upgrade to SB in the used market. SB just hurt the used market crap. The 2500k kills the 1100T period multithreaded or not btw.

keep it until bulldozer at least
Not worth it, I would wait out for Bulldozer at least and see what that's like.

If you really must have the latest and greatest go for it, if not don't bother. It will be faster in games, but if your current set up is fast enough who cares? I bought my 1090T last April and i'm determined to make it last until next year, by then SB, BD, and IV will have had time to settle, and as others have said, just because something better has come along, it doesn't make your cpu any worse than it was the day before, it will still do the same things/ perform the same.

Ok, what I've gathered from this is that it's not worth it and therefore I am waiting until Bulldozer or IV. Thanks guys
