Have there been any updates in the industry?

I just bought a U3011 and I'm waiting to hear the stats on these cards because they would seam to be an obvious choice for 2560x1600 gaming...

I am quoting one of my posts from another thread as it seems relevant here as well. Feel free to comment on this quote.

That's very interesting.

Do you have any info on release date? At least a 'range'?

I have some bad news and some good news for you guys tonight. The bad news is, I just received word that a February launch for the GTX590 has been officially delayed. However, the good news is, it has nothing to do with production related issues. Apparently, NVIDIA is reporting to partners that they have already finalized and prepped the cards for deployment but it appears that but they have insider knowledge on AMD's HD6990 release date and are planning to use that to their advantage. Whether this means they are planning to release it right before or a time after AMD's card is hard to say. This is all that has been stated to me at this time and I have been busy this week trying to confirm this from several of my partner sources.

Sorry guys, it looks like you'll have to wait just a little while longer.

probably nvidia try to release it after HD 6990 so they can adjust clock speeds?
so we may get a beefy card
AMD did that with their HD 6900 series i believe. still can't compete with GTX 500 though

The reason I have taken so long on that thread is I had a few plans to completely reconstruct the thread with a lot more content in there but unfortunatly due to lack of time and the amount of work it would cost to do this I have scrapped the idea. I was even in talks with a few mods to see if it was possible to have a few members co-develop it with me but due to lack of features on OCN's forum software it is not possible to have more than one member to have ownership/permissions to change a thread. And unfortunatly it is too great of a task to on myself.

However, I have been getting a lot of feedback and concern about it so I will definitely be reopening the thread very soon, I'm hoping sometime within the next month. I still have to change a few things on the backend but I assure you it will be up very soon. If you would like more information please contact me via PM/IM.

Update: I have been contacted just now by one of my sources for an update on some confirmations for recent queries. I was allowed to quote this directly so here is what has been told to me so far.

Quote:
Hello xxxxxx,

We are contacting you today with your recent RFI regarding info for the GTX590's GPU that will soon be released. We were able to confirm several things from the manufacturer that gave us some insight we would like to share with you. This is correct that EVGA and ASUS will both be exclusive North American sellers of this GPU and the reason that was stated to us is due to the limited quantity of cards that will be produced at a time, NVIDIA was interested in only applying the 3 top-selling NA partners to retail the cards. Originally EVGA, ASUS, and MSI were selected for production, but after some recent meetings between MSI and NVIDIA, MSI decided against producing these cards as they felt it would not be a profitable margin for them. Another piece of information were able to acquire is the pricing for set for Inno3D's Hong Kong release and well as the expected MSRP for the US market. The US pricing will be set at $xxx.xx and HK will launch at a retail price of $xxx.xx. These prices are very competitive with AMD's HD6990 pricing stated at $699.99 so NVIDIA was definitely interested in minimizing costs, hence the recent withdrawal from MSI. So far this is the only update we are allowed to release. You are given the go ahead to feel free posting this within your forum's community but we are strictly told to keep the pricing confidential so please blank out the prices when you share this. As always please keep our contact information confidential. We will be going into a meeting with NVIDIA later in the week and we will keep you updated on further progress.

Sincerely,
xxx xxxxxxxxxx
Project Manager of xxxxxx xxxx
Sorry guys but I have to keep some things under wraps for now. But as you can see there is a lot of information already set and talks still going on. Feel free to requote this in other related threads.

Update: Since the MSRP of the HD6990 has been released I have update the above quote with the pricing.
