It was quite fun to see you posting this since NV was really positive about the board outwards, while the high failure rate was known before.

I think you could've realised it was a poor product when the first info press gets about the card is not about how fast it is, but how silent it is

That's funny because prior to the GTX 590 the first thing ATI/AMD fans claimed is how price per performance it's a better value they are as opposed to the GPU's raw performance to it's competitor. The swing swings both ways.

But I fully understand that AMD fans finally have one card that trumps Nvidia after ALL these years. The AMD 6990 is better in performance over the GTX 590. Have your fun in the sun, you deserve this title win on dual GPU. AMD fans are all over the green with negative comments and it's to be expected. Even if they have to come to Nvidia threads to rub it in.

GTX 580 > AMD 6970
GTX 570 > AMD 6950
GTX 560 > AMD 6870
GTX 550 > AMD 6850

Same went for the 400 series vs AMD 5000 series. You can say all you want about hot, expensive, yadda yadda but bottom line most of us care about performance.

Hats off ATI/AMD finally got one.

Not to go off-topic here, but since you care about performance, you had both a 6990 and a 5970?

And.. there is no such thing as a GTX 550, nor is it faster than a 6850, but that was not the point of the post. It was about misguided information from nvidia regarding the 590 pre-launch and the false assumptions that came from it.

There is a GTX 550, it's just not as good as the 6850.

My bad, I was confused with the GTS 450, that was supposed to launch as the GTX450, but luckily that got rectified with the 550
