Bulldozer vs Sandy Bridge - Page 5

I disagree with GPU upgrade unless you are going to go BIG. I sold my 4890 last year, got a 460 GTX FTW, and was extremely disappointed.

6850 I am borrowing since I had to flip that POS 460 out immediately is a nice side grade. (performance wise its a downgrade, but add in features it evens out).

If you have the upgrade bug now I would get a nice large SSD, maybe a second monitor. A new desk chair if your is beat up.. Things that last, that span architecture changes smile.gif

People wow... Just buy whatever is best price/performance and fits your needs its very simple, Because AMD has started from the ground up It could wipe the floor with intel or be a close competitor we don't know, Your 955 is enough for now wait a little more so you wont be sad, but sandy bridge is great aswell.

also bulldozer have their '8-core' cpu but i'm sure it won't come out after 1/2 months of the bulldozer cpu, and once AMD have released it, Intel have their 2011 socket to battle bulldozer's 8 core

I say wait for BD, even though sandy bridge is Phenomenal:thumb:it seems AMD has a lot at stake here and cannot afford to release a less than spectacular Cpu line-up.So in short I have great expectations for AMD although I'm still a bit worried.frown.gif

offtopic.gif As for all of you fanboys in here keep it up I enjoy a good show.jerry.gif

One thing for the OP, if there's a bulldozer chip (read: APU) that can be used in Hybrid Crossfire X with your 6950 (Excuse the ignorance), well, that would sure shuffle the BD around on the good<--->bad scale to say the least. Just something to think about. And that mobo of yours seems to be of the AM3+-compatible persuasion. Apologies if I couldn't be more helpful, but with a topic like this that might make me more accurate~

Even more phenomenal than the Phenoms!

(Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

Also, is it just me or does this fanboyism reduce computational performance on a psychological scale? rolleyes.gif

Bulldozer vs Sandy Bridge...lol.

I just ordered a 2600k and Maximus IV Extreme because to be honest, AMD's lack of being able to give us straight answers and benchmarks this late into the dev process pisses me off. Intel has no problem giving us good performance charts etc with their non-yet-released hardware. To be honest, I think Bulldozer will be *good*, but still marginally lackluster compared to Sandy.
