P67 Motherboards did you notice!

Thread Starter
I was searching for a motherboard to purchase for my i5 2600k. I have two gtx260's right now and I was hoping they would make a x16 x16 for a relative cheap price. Did any of you people notice the pricing is based off pcie slots?

I just feel like I am being ripped off. Especially having to buy a K processor to get a high overclock. The Ivy bridge is based off the sandy bridge I have a feeling it will be the same in a year.

Thats why I'm not with Intel anymore. No matter how fast they are.
I felt like I was robbed after I bought my QX9650, 3 years ago.

P67 only has 8x/8x bandwidth in CFX/SLI. There is not much difference between 8x and 16x with current cards.

Sandy Bridge also has DRM on the chip for Netflix. Very annoying.

I believe that the DRM only works with their streaming service not Net Flix, and you have to be using the H67 chipset. The difference between 8x and 16x is only noticeable when you are at extreme resolutions. (Tri-Monitor)

So what does this quote mean?

"The other major (and welcome) change is the move to PCIe 2.0 lanes running at 5GT/s. Currently, Intel chipsets support PCIe 2.0 but they only run at 2.5GT/s, which limits them to a maximum of 250MB/s per direction per lane." http://www.anandtech.com/show/3871/t...ins-in-a-row/3

Any idea?

Thats your fault for buying a QX chip. You knew what it was and that it was no better OC'd than the $300 chips.

It isn't for Netflix IIRC. Its for Intels streaming service and basically doesn't effect anyone.

Yeah i am missing sandybridge and going 1366, besides clarkdale has the best parts of sb without the drawbacks.
Just a shame they never made quad versions of clarkdale

Just picked up an i7 920 for £100 which is a steal here in the uk
