Thanks for giving me a push in getting more flac's. About 5% of my collection is flac, so I've got work to do. Just got infected mushroom flac's, .

Also thanks for the speaker placement tip, never thought much about that. Would you have a link to something regarding desktop speakers? Only ones I could find were with loudspeakers in a big room.

same thing for speaker placement as desktop speakers. don't forget about pandora radio its free
the best thing you can do is spread your speaker apart as the same distance as your ears to the front of the speaker. if the speakers are to close together the sound stage is narrow so spread those speakers for a full sound stage. if the distance is to close for the distance you spread the speakers toe them in just a tad. have fun trying it you should hear an improvement

i forgot to say a sound card is a must for those speakers.

same here.. I have a used X-Fi Xtreme Gamer I'll sell.

So how are these speakers compared to something like the Bose Companion 3 (I know audiophiles hate bose, but lets have an honest, hatred aside discussion here)

There isn't a real hatred for bose. They have good gear that is over spec'ed. Their products just don't do what they are rated for. Also, since they are rated higher the prices are much higher. That is the major issue that most people have with bose.

As far I know BOSE stand for "Buy Other Sound Equipment" so you do have a valid point.

I signed up for an account as I'm very seriously considering getting these, and it is telling me $9.41 to ship them to California. It has a ton of options though, ranging all the way to 105.20

I am getting another set. I wanted to grab M50W but $300 is a bit too much for me.
