So I'm getting to blow some of my taxes on a new PC this year. My wife decided on an $800 budget. I already have my HDD storage solutions of 2.32TB of mechanical drives (3 of them) and a tiny 32GB SSD for start up. Here are the parts that I put together.*

Cooler Master HAF 912
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition 3.2 GHz
Sapphire HD 5770
Corsair HX 650W psu
8GB GSkill 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
Cooler Master V6 CPU cooler

I'm also planning on ordering a 24-pin and 4-pin extenders and five extra 120mm case fans. All in all it comes out to $805 before shipping. This will be an all purpose rig. Gaming, HTPC, Internet, and college work. I plan on creating profiles to OC for the gaming and underclock for silence during movie watching.*
Let me know what you guys think and give me some suggestions, but please remember I'm already 5 bucks over budget that the wife is already upset with.*

You could probably save a few bucks and not get the Black Edition and OC it up to those speeds if you wanted. Also, cut back on the ram, for the stated purposes you'll never go above 4GB usage, really you'll probably average 2, I'd get a 4gig kit and save a few bucks.

I thought about 4GBs but when I get bored I usually start screwing around with my iPod and start converting movies to fit on it while watchings movies and screwing around on the web. My current machine seems to lag like crazy while doing that with CPU usage only at 40%. So I figured it was the lack of ram doing it, and it's got 4 GB.

8GB RAM is an overkill. Just get 2x2GB.
The V series CPU coolers are fairly expensive and average performing. Look at a Scythe Mugen 2.
PUt any savings nto a 6850 or a 890FX mobo instead.
I agree with above. Cut back on the RAM, get yourself a good 890FX board like mine, and an HD5870. The mobo will allow you to overclock (even reach 4ghz) any phenom II processor with ease; I prefer Asus mobos, but Gigabyte is cool to (Asus bought out Gigabyte anyway, so performance is roughly the same; I prefer Asus' bios).

Took away a set of the ram and it is saving me $43.99. I have an extra $39 to sink into something else. I added that price to either the motherboard or the gpu and I do not see any upgrade in the difference of the prices. I also did a search for that Scythe cooler and it's not on newegg so I will look for something else.

This is the cooler.

Newegg is not selling it anymore, so I guess you'll have to find it somewhere else online.

Tried budgeting me M4A89TD into my wish list and I'm over $39. Only thing I will not sacrifice on is the case and having a hex-core. Think a slower CPU would keep the system at a great speed? I really wanted to mess around with the unlocked multiplier to fine tune my OC, but I'm very open to suggestions.

1090T and a 5770 isn't really a " Beast "

Scythe make great coolers. However, if you are still unsure be sure to check out Prolimatech's coolers, specifically the Megahalems and the Armageddons.
