E2140 4ghz?

Thread Starter
Hey guys.
I want to push E2140 to 4GHZ at least for only SUPER PI 1M and VANTAGE.
The specs are:

E2140
XSPC RASA 750 2X120
GA-EP45-UD3LR
4GB RAM (2GB are samsung 1GB X2 sticks 800MHZ CL6)
(2GB unknown brand with heatspreaders 1GB x2 sticks 800MHZ CL5)
CORSAIR VX550W.
SHAPPHIRE HD5770.
F3 SPINPOINT 1TB
HEC66 RC.

Anyway: How do i do this?
I heard its impossible to go over 3.8GHZ.
But i need to push it to 4GHZ just for VANTAGE and SUPERPI 1M
So what do i need to successfuly done it?

Thanks.

You may need LN2 to pull that off, ive honestly never heard of any of the E2xxx or E4xxx series chips getting that high on normal cooling. Your asking for 2.4ghz overclock, which is pretty much unheard of without extreme cooling.
I had a few E2140s and the best one topped out at 3.3GHz on high-end air.

Most of the E21xx has FSB walls far below what you would need for 4GHz, so I am not sure if any cooling would allow for it. Only sub-ambient will stand a chance of it. Dry ice isn't expensive and that's what I'd try first.

highest clock for e2140 is 4350Mhz...on LN2......highest spi 1M time is at 4160Mhz...on LN2.......you may need to re-think your goals.

If you can find a cheap e5200 you might be about to get it to 4Ghz, it's possible. I would look for an e8400 or something close to that then you'll probably be able to run 4Ghz all the time with decent cooling.

I agree with this, if you plan on sticking with the LGA775 for a while, and cant afford a quad, and E8400, or E8500 is the way to go. The EO revision can usually reach 4.0 with ease, and it will eat your E2140 for breakfast in everything, even at the same clock speed.

Well.
I just one a cpu that good for OC with lowest clock.
that means near 4 GHZ highers % OC.
So i can win first place.
But i have a good WC and i dunno if its enough.
My motherboard max FSB is 1200.
Voltages 2V for CPU.

BUT its still Lite.
Anyway Is that possible to make it with WC and How to get higher score with E2140 on 3.6GHZ than 4GHZ?

You will not get 4ghz on water, you need sub zero temps to achieve that, additionally you will need a much higher fsb than that as well. At 1200mhz fsb your only gonna be at 2.4ghz.

2V into that cpu will fry it indefinately.

No no no.
You didnt understand me right.
I meant max bus.
so if the multiplier is X10 the max is 12GHZ.

Sorry that i didnt reply much time.
Anyway more comments?

Well there are some really stunning figures picked up from a thread in OCN.
Check the figures. Those include E2140, E2160 and many others.
