Why does Crysis: Warhead perform better than Crysis?

Thread Starter
Just played Crysis: Warhead on my system and the performance is great.
On Enthusiast (All) and with 16xQ (1080p) it runs pretty good.

Also if I upgraded to 6GB of DDR2 RAM, HyperX by Kingston.. How would that affect my performance on the PC? Gaming and in general.

Thanks guys.

It came out later so it probably has a lot of optimizations. Just moving to four gigs should give you a nice boost in the feel of your computer.

Crysis was very poorly coded and actually had a HUGE memory leak. Warhead on the other hand had much better coding, meaning it was better optimized.

As for adding RAM it will make your system snapier, but other than that you won't notice a thing.

This ^
think they fixed quite a few things,
4gb should be enough and will make a good difference in performance but 6gb is also nice to have lol.

tbh I think it's cause they dumbed down the graphics in Crysis Warhead (more so than optimization). Yes, they turned the vegetation draw distance way up but they cut corners where they could. Also I think faster RAM rather than more RAM would be better.

I had a look at my old 4GB DDR2 RAM and it was only 800 MHz, lol. Now I only have 3GB RAM, but it's DDR3 and clocked at 1333 MHz, and that makes a huge difference.

Huge memory leak. I just almost finished the game. Everything ran great till the final battle on the ship. My graphics went to crap and it slowed way down. I'm thinking that memory leak might be my problem?

Yep sounds like it, if you look at memory usage (ram and also gpu memory) and they are at 90-100% usage then thats the memory leak happening

Just because it was tough on a system doesn't mean it was poorly programmed. Misinformation is the root of all evil in this world!

O yes, and that's exactly where I recieve slow downs also. That would be the leak...

I have noooo clue how they let a leak like that happen.
