Are 8 Pin Extension Cables OK?

Thread Starter
I don't actually need the extension but if I use it I can run the 8 pin CPU power cord behind the motherboard. But I can't help but notice that the extension cables (not sleeved) are smaller in diameter and I wonder if there will be a degradation of some sort. The extension came with my HAF X so I assume it is decent quality but it doesn't look as good as the main cord. Should I worry about using it?

Thanks, Kent

My ATCS840 came with a similar extension that I used with a previous rig; worked perfectly, and a somewhat newer extension with sleeving does, as well. smile.gif

Also, you should transfer your system specs to the area for it in User CP under Add System; that's what it's there for. wink.gif

The extension cable won't degrade the performance, or power going through, it just extend it smile.gif The cable isn't long enough for it to degrade the power going through.

Completely safe. I am using a generic extender for mine. I emailed to Corsair to ask if it is alright, and they replied that it is totailly safe as the leads on the power supplies are generic. It should be the same for all other PSU's.
