If you lose money in the end, don't. If you gain a few bucks, sure.

i guess u r right, the wisest decision would be to attempt to sell it and if it doesnt work - i'll just keep it and relax. i7 960 is a still heck of a cpu, even though its an older tech. Thank you everybody!

why go through all that trouble, for a small increase overclock, and no HT. people are raving about hitting 5ghz on air, dont get me wrong thats pretty amazing, but they also say only 10% of chips make it to 5ghz and its on rediculous voltages(hows 1.6 on a 32nm cpu sound). i also noticed you got mATX, and theres not huge amount of mATX boards in SB at the moment, so i would hold on the the current set up, unless you feel you have to keep up with the joneses

keep it..seeing sandy bridge with just a little over the x58 platform with "literal" use and with a not-so-huge gain over "Bench" use(which improve one's epeen)..yes it really is tempting to jump over SB but still i am doing nothing(much out of it i guess)out of my x58 setup and it can play everything i install on it too with decent FPS..

if you are a practical guy you should know what you need..else buy SB and get tid of that combo..

else if you find it reasonable to keep it and use it..better since you can save up for socket 2011..

Thank you.
It sounds like you want to so I say go sandy. You'll probably make money on the cpu and get most back for the board. You will like sandy bridge, she will overclock way better then that 960 (i had a 950 for 3 weeks and ditched it for this i5)

I personally didn't care for hyper threading. Not that it doesn't help in certain things but I don't do them much.
