Heatpipes and Rotated Motherboards - Page 2

I just put my build (ASUS P6X58D-E, i7 930 @ 4.01ghz w/HT, GTX480, 6GB G-Skill Trident RAM @7-7-7-20) into a Raven RV02-E and slapped a Silver Arrow on the CPU. It works great.

I switched from a Corsair A70 air cooler to the Silver Arrow (just b/c I could) and that shaved off a couple of degrees @ idle and a good chunk @ load. So if you're wondering if something as big as the Silver Arrow (or the Noctua D14) will fit, yes it will. I put the TY-140's on the Silver Arrow into a pull/pull configuration, which isn't "technically" optimal, but a push fan would not have cleared my RAM. Still works great--probably b/c the AP-181 Penetrators at the bottom of the Raven are pushing so much air into the Silver Arrow in the first place.

For those wondering, my CPU temps are now 36-39 @ idle and 62-65 @ load (Prime95).

This was in the manual that came w/ my FT-02, but it's right in their FAQ as well.
basically good wicking heatpipes shouldn't be affected, but you don't want the bends in the heatpipes at the top.
http://www.silverstonetek.com/qa/qa_...=FT02&area=usa

good - good - bad

and their other "bad" example.

My Sapphire Toxic stays really chilly w/ the new case, the big 180mm AP fan blowing right on the card. Nose down in the case it's heatpipes are orientated like the first "good" illustration from Silverstone.
