asus fan xpert and qfan conflicting

Thread Starter
i'm trying to configure my cpu fan (sig rig). my cpu cooler fan is a 4 pin. i tried configuring speed fan, but it doesn't work. it worked on my old intel mobo, but when plugged into the 4pin cpu port on my mobo, speedfan doesn't recognize the fan. when plugged into the 4pin chassis fan port on mobo it recognizes the fan RPMs but doesn't change its speed (i set them to "software controlled", etc.)

i'm using my other option, fan xpert (in asus suite II) b/c of this. only problem is that fan xpert and the bios q-fan function kind of work together. (ex. setting the profile to turbo, silent, etc. in fan xpert sets it to that in bios. disabling q-fan disables fan xpert, etc.)

the problem is setting the custom "user" profile in fan xpert (so i can change fan % depending on temp) sets the q-fan profile in the bios to "manual" but every time i reboot, q-fan kind of overwrites the fan xpert settings. i have to open up fan xpert and reapply the settings.

anything i can do about this? any other software i can use?

Speedfan should do the trick, you just wont be able to adjust below 40%-50%, any lower than that won't have any effect. It works fine on my DK, I have to play with each fan though to find out which one is the CPU fan. It doesnt say which one it is.

Are you sure Fan Xpert overwrites Q-fan? I'm using a P8Z77-V BIOS 0906 with Fan Xpert 2 1.00.13, and Fan Xpert and Q-fan do not work together, in fact they are almost oblivious to each other, Q-fan settings are applied when machine starts up and then Fan Xpert overwrites it after Windows boots.

But there is a bug, where Fan Xpert does not remember the custom settings of my graph after power off / reboot for my CPU fan and Chassis Fan 1, but Chassis Fan 2 and 3 settings are stored properly... I have to manually load the profile each time I start my computer.

I also have Q-fan disabled and Fan Xpert works independently of it.

The Silent/Turbo/Standard profiles are useless to me though as they are set to spin at 100% for tempretures of 60-70 degrees only and I would like the fans to go full blast at 49 degrees C
