[HC] EVGA Revises Standard Warranty

Thread Starter
Introducing EVGA’s new –KR part number for 2011! Any card purchased after January 1st 2011 will be eligible for the following features.

EVGA-WARRANTY-3.jpg
Quote:
EVGA, a company known for their lifetime warranties on many products has now upgraded it’s “basic” warranty to 3 years while allowing users to purchase an extended warranty of up to 10 years.
Quote:
While the “-TR” branded cards will stay around for the time being, this SKU will be immediately phased out and replaced with “-KR” products which means any EVGA card bought after January 1st 2011 will carry with it a minimum 3-year warranty term.
Quote:
This upgrade to the -KR warranty will have no effect on our Limited Lifetime warranty or 10 Year warranty in EVGA EU.

So if I read this right, and I probably didn't...

Higher end products like the Classified Series, the 580's will retain their AR serial which offers still a lifetime warranty.

Lower end will now be revised after 1/1/2011 with a KR serial that will allow for an extended warranty purchase.

If it's this way, I kinda like it, while 10 years is overkill, if you plan on a server build or something uber important, covering such a product is a must...

AR's also seem that if you forget to register within the 30 days after purchase to get a 3year over a 1 year warranty, effing awesome biggrin.gif

Believe me, a 10 year warranty is a good thing. Definately not overkill.

So most of the high end stuff will still be -AR? Or are they going to phase out that and turn everything into this -KR?

You're never going to keep a GPU or mobo for 10 years. That's crazy.

I think this will turn around and bite EVGA in the butt. As that was the main reason most bought the products from them. Now you either do a 3 year warranty or pay for anything after that. The only really big gripe i had with them was not being able to transfer the warranty.

As now it just falls under a standard gpu now as they all offer 3 year warranties, well the higher end ones. But since they are trying to nickel and dime you on a warranty then maybe they should offer a form of payment to transfer a warranty to someone else also.

You're going to have to do more than OCing to burn up a card. Plus that's just plain dishonest.

Actually it is. I would never in a million years plan on keeping a video card for 10 years, or at least still care about what happens to it at that point.
