What router modem thingy should I get?

Thread Starter
I'm a nub and don't know much about networking. Basicly I just need to get a modem router thingy in my family room next to the tv so we can use skype on it. I guess for you to use it with a computer, you need a router too with the modem, but I'm a nub and don't know. I need to connect 4 wireless things to it and 2 wired things to it, so it needs to have wi-fi. I have no clue what to get. I preferably like to get it from newegg. By the way, my internet is super slow, speed test says 1mb per second. Thanks!

If it is that slow, I don't recommend getting a router. It will literally split the connection into the number of people connected. It will be extra slow.

I really don't get what your saying at all. You have some type of computer or HTPC connected to your computer that needs internet access for skype?

Most routers today have built in wifi, its pretty much industry standard now.
Splitting up a slow connection to 6 other devices might slow down usage for everyone, but at least there's internet access for everyone.

If you need a cheap router i can easily recommend this:
