extremely wierd crossfire behavior

Thread Starter
I just bought a used saphire 5970 to run trifire with a 5870. I already had ccc 10.12 before I installed the 5970, hooked up the power cables and crossfire bridge and everything seemed fine. For a little while. Then the pc started freezing and finally the monitor screen would just remain black. I uninstalled ccc with driversweep reinstalled catalyst 10.12 checked cables. nothing. I moved the monitor cables to the 5970 and it would boot and crash during benching. I removed the 5870 and the results were the same so I suspected the 5970 was bad. Then as a last resort I uninstalled ccc 10.12 and installed 10.10, tried the 5870 and it worked fine. I then reinstalled the 5970 ran them trifire benched for a couple hours and everything is working fine so far. I also want to add that everytime I changed hardware I uninstalled and reinstalles ccc. I've heard of people having problems with certain versions of ccc and/or crossfire but this is the first for me.
What an ordeal, I hope it's over
