Where is the Phenom II 975?

I've read it was released on January 4th, but have not seen this part anywhere.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AM...75FBK4DGM.html

I'd like to upgrade to this chip as it will be slightly faster than my 1.4 GHz Thunderbird CPU.

They aren't on newegg. They aren't on tiger direct....

Prob for OEMs only as the same thing happened to me with finding a 95W X6. eBay would be best if you can find one.

I can't find it anywhere either. I would however suggest saving the cash, getting the X4 955 and just overclock it to 975 levels.

Yeah, but its listed as a black edition CPU?

I've never heard of a BE OEM.

I also saw a listing on Tiger Direct for a bundle with a Phenom II 975 and a motherboard, but it was canceled. (Now I can't even find the cached page on google).

I'm wondering if there might have been a defect in the part or something that caused them to be recalled and binned down 970's.

Suppose I better get ready to pull my 970. Luckily I have not built anything with it yet. I suppose I could sell it --- retail from newegg ... still in box. =) 3.6 > 3.5GHz!

I think what he meant by "OEM" was when a chip is ONLY sold to computer manufacturers (like HP and Dell) to be put in their computers and sold as merchandise, like the 95 watt version of the Phenom 9850 that I have never seen on newegg.

Anyway, it appears that the Phenom II 975 was only released as test samples to online websites and PC Magazines. It actually has not been released to market yet. At least not in the west.

Watch it get released tonight and make me look like a moron. LOL.

Just save some money and get a 955 and OC it. Only difference is what it comes at in box and it isn't that hard to go into the Bios and change two things.

I already have a Phenom II 965. However, my set up does not overclock well. It might be the chip or the board, or a combination. But the fact is that I can't even get it to OC to 3.6 GHz. It will start at 3.6 GHz, but will crash when I run a demanding application.
