Mixing Memory

Thread Starter
I'm going to buy 4 more gigs of RAM for video rendering.

I want to buy a different brand of memory, will this affect my build?

I'm currently using Rip Jaws and I'm looking into some OCZ memory.

as long as it's the same speed (and probably timings) I would say no, it shouldn't.

I'd personally avoid OCZ. and just get the same ripjaws. I put my ripjaws together with some crucial tracers that were the same speed, and the system was unstable.

Really? do you know if they had the same timings too? I didn't know that would cause instability
interesting

Mixing performance memory can cause some instability depending on settings, ICs, etc. I'd say get as close to the same settings rated as possible or the exact same settings. Better yet, exact same kit.

There is 3 things you have to look at with mismatch memory.
1) voltage
2) speed
3) timing
All 3 have to match up.
