Except for the part about maximizing your sensor's potential, you don't really need a dSLR to implement some stuff here. Even the most basic point and shoots will allow you to adjust exposure compensation or shutter speeds.

Definitely sticking this, thanks for the effort Dream killer! I'm thrilled that members are coming forward to write guides! I had asked for authors in the past without any success. I think these guides will eliminate excessive and repetitive threads (hopefully) and at the same bring more new members. Hats off!

Just had an idea: What about a guide on PPing as well?

I mean, it is a valuable tool when used properly and I'm sure many people (me!) would probably benefit from it as well. I mean, I recently discovered the adjustment brush for masking and it's made a huge improvement in many of my photos with harsh lighting.

Hmm. I try to stick with techniques people can use without software. On this guide, I'm concentrating on using the camera as a standalone tool.

It doesn't make me against post processsing. I just think it's better for someone else to write that guide.

I was thinking it could be a whole separate guide as well. Unfortunately this is also a guide I can't right. I discovered the adjustment brush just last week, so needless to say I still am pretty noobish with PPing.

I think 90% of my time on OCN is now spent purely on the photography forum

I know a reasonable amount of PP techniques, but I too would rather someone more knowledgeable take this one. If anyone out there wants to write a post-processing guide, it's open for takers!
