Memory bandwidth on the MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon is 3900Mhz bus standard PCIe x16 2.0 and on the MSI AMD 6870 Twin Frozr II memory bandwidth 4200Mhz bus standard PCIe x 16 2.1. Wouldn't AMD have more head room to overclock on bandwidth maximum?

Both are 256 bit and support 1.4a HDMI and reach 1Ghz core clock speeds.

I'll be working on a little OC'ing a little later today.. I'll post my results so you can see the difference.

Have you run 3Dmark11 yet? If so, what was your "performance" score?

Arizonian, down-clock your 6870 to 960/1920/2000 and let me know what kind of stat's your getting in GPU-Z.

AMD doesn't have a way to control shader clock. I got mine to 1000Mhz core / 1000Mhz memory and it's matching exact bandwidth and pixel fillrate. However one difference is the shaders - your reading 336 unified I'm showing 1120 unified.

Now to go back to my normal OC where I'm getting 150.4 bandwidth stable @ 1000/1175Mhz. Also the beta version of Afterburner is going to allow core voltage overclocking and the AMD 6870 & 6850 will get even more gains soon with final release. Lastly, the AMD drivers are fairly new and can expect even better drivers as this series matures.

P.S. They just started offering $30 rebate which brings the price of the MSI AMD 6870 Twin Frozr II to 239.99 now with free shipping.

And in all fairness if anyone is interested in the MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon Attack now 229.99 with 7.56 shipping for 237.55.

The price wars have begun! Happy gaming!

I came into a bonus check at work and ending up switching to the GTX 580 just recently since I was still within my refund period on my 6870. I can no longer post specs or try different benchmarks.

I hope current MSI AMD 6870 and MSI Nvidia GTX 460 Hawk owners who read this get some better idea of the similarity of both these great cards in this thread.
