Major Differences between Gigabyte P67 UD4 and UD5?

All that I really see different is the Power Phases. Is there anything else of note that warrants an extra $70? lol Thanks!

Definitely not. The amount of phases on the UD4 is plenty. The only difference is the slot layout, but running 3 GPUs on P67 (without NF200 or something that gives more PCI-E lanes) is stupid.

I agree completely. I would never pay that much more for just extra phases that's why I was asking about em'.

The only physical difference I notice is the "Ultra Durable" component on the UD5. Any idea what that is?

I'm pretty sure the Lucid chip is underneath that heatsink on the UD5

It's just for aesthetics. I'm fairly sure there is nothing under that heatsink, to my knowledge the board does not have an NF200 or Lucid Hydra chip. Many P55 boards are the same way and have a heatsink where nothing is.

I don't think so, I can't find it anywhere on their site: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3647#sp You would think it would be well advertised if it did in fact have one...

Thank You for clearing that up for me! I appreciate it.

So, would you say the UD4 is worth the purchase, then?

I keep going back and forth on which board I want. lol The only Gigabyte board I would consider is the UD4, MSI maybe the 65, and for ASUS, the Sabertooth, PRO, and Deluxe are all under consideration.

What do you know about the ASRock and Biostar boards? The Extreme4 and Extreme6 look comparable to the ASUS PRO and Deluxe. I read that Biostar's board for like $135 is extremely nice for the price, as well.

What? P55 only has one chip called the PCH. It doesn't have two chips like in previous generations- the northbridge and southbridge (called ICH and IOH on X58). So many manufacturers put a heatsink where the NB used to be just to look cool but it serves absolutely no purpose, just like on the UD5. Here is an example: the Biostar Tpower i55.

The Biostar board is freaking awesome. The only gripes I have about it is: it doesn't have a PCI-E x1 up top like most other boards, and it only has 5 SATA ports. Now, if you have no need for those features, it's great. Microcenter has it for $135 and I would recommend it over any other P67 board. Biostar is where it's at.

Look at it running a 2600k at 5.1ghz
