Questions Regarding OCing on H57 Chipset

Heya,

So I have been fishing around for a new mATX motherboard for 1156 that isn't expensive, yet offers everything I need. I ran across this ECS H57H-M motherboard.

Before you get into "ECS Sucks", I don't care. I've had an ECS board before and it worked just fine, no problems at all hitting 4ghz stable.

I am familiar with overclocking on P55 for my Xeon x3440, but am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of while picking up this board regarding the H57 chipset. Is it much different with overclocking than the P55 or is it practically the same just with the ability to use IGPs?

I would rather get the ASUS Maximus III GENE but it's slightly out of my grasp, and the rebate on this really has my attention (I've had an ECS rebate before, they actually honor it, just takes time). I cannot count the exact amount of phases but it seems to have an 8+2 or something around there.

I want to hit around 3.8ghz stable ht off or 3.6ghz with ht on.

If you're going to overclock, you want P55. H55 and H57 do okay with Clarkdale (dual-core with HT).

Also, you won't be able to use the video ports on any H55/H57 board with that CPU as it does not have IGP.

I don't want to use the video ports as much as I want the motherboard to have 1 x16 slot, 1 x4 slot, and a PCI slot... oh and MOSFET cooling.

I sold my UD2 earlier last month and kind of am regretting it now. Especially considering you can't find them anywhere now for $110 like at Newegg.

I might just fork over the extra cash and get the Maximus, but was hoping this might be a cheaper alternative.

The lack of mATX boards is disappointing. Seeing what Newegg has to offer, I would get the Asus MIIIG as you had mentioned.

How high do you think I could OC my Xeon on an H57?

Dang... And I really don't want to spend the money on the Maximus III GENE if I'm not gonna SLI, but then again perhaps I will...

P55 is the only way to go man. Looks like the GENE is the only choice. I've even looked through some of the other boards (or what remains really) and they don't even measure up.
