New OCer, need help:]

Thread Starter
Hi guys. I'm new here, and new to ocing. I read the basic guide on OC-ing... I'm generally confused about everything, besides FSB and multiplier

Here are my system specs (kinda crappy.. it's old :[)

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (BIOS ver. F5)
PSU: (included with raidmax smilodon) Raidmax 500w
RAM: G.SKILL DDR2 800 2GB (1x2) pc2-6400

Here is my CPU-Z .txt file

I'm trying to overclock generally everything including my gpu... because I'm really dissatisfied with my computer atm... So till I save enough money for my new rig (already chosen the build) I'm going to OC this thing in hope to alleviate some stress...

I know I should raise my FSB to what my ram can handle which would be 400mhz i'm assuming? But that'll make my cpu at 4.0ghz which seems wack @_@

And all those things about raising voltage (but too much frying my ram) is scaring me :[

Can you tech-savvy pros (i envy you guys) guide me through my OC-ing journey? I'd realllllllyyyyy appreciate it ^-^ If not, feel free to bash/troll/rage at me for being a worthless ignorant fool... Thank you :][

First welcome to ocn. Well depending on or CPU cooler an temps. You should start buy raising the Feb slow till you find what you can get stable on stock voltage. Then start going up on voltage a little till you get a good stable overclock. Just watch your temps. Also don't worrie no one will bash you for asking for help. Also on your RAM set it as close to stock speed as you can when overclocking. Then after u get the hang of things. You can play with more settings.

Your cpu model is pretty old which you said it was old. If you have an aftermarket cooler I would only attempt pushing it about 200-400mhz over the stock just to be safe. Also to note check newegg (www.newegg.com) constantly you'll find some steals of pc bundle. Almost a whole system for 230$ish and it'll stomp your current am2 system. Oh yeah not to knock tigerdirect but stay away from original phenom bundles (not phenom II bundles). If your really from korea the deals will not be available for you unfortunately.

I put my fsb to 400mhz xD just for the heck of it, and my computer didn't boot up. So I had to take out the battery in my mobo and put it back in for it to reset blah blah ~_~

Try 200Mhz.
