I think the majority of the users that come to this website com here to learn how to overclock. "Googles overclock, hey look, overclock.net"

That does not necessarily mean that they go out and buy the latest and greatest

Nor can you directly compare a nvidia shader core to a desktop CPU core. A 512 core nvidia card is not all that impressive when they are 2 completely different markets with 2 completely different functions. Furthermore, Intel currently has at least 8 cores on a single die that is functional. I'd be more impressed of 512 i7 cores on a single die then 1600 shaders on a GPU.

Nor do you know the performance of a bulldozer core. But whatever.

Wait, so 12 cores on just one chip? So when it comes to 6, 8 and 12 cores which tier applies to which type of consumer?

I will most likely skip sandy bridge because my i7 930 is absolutely fantastic even at stock speeds, and does everything I want and with ease... even when im recording or streaming games its an absolute breeze.

The sandy bridge core i7 2600 has a very high stock clock(3.4) and aggressive turbo (3.8-4.0) which is able to compete with the 980x at stock...and of course with its architectural changes

Has anyone seen benches with a core i7 quad 4ghz+ vs stock core i7 hex?

lol, I like how they tease you a day after they release SB to everyone. I mean I know that sockets get outdated and your stuff will eventually become outdated, etc etc. It's just a little tactless.

I will probably skip this. My current system does what I need it to do well and I can wait with just a small upgrade to a cheap quad core. Besides, I have to wait because I'm poor XD

PS: I found out about this website by going on Google and typing in "how to overclock" XD

Except it isn't. Triple channel DDR3 scaling is even worse than that of tri-sli.

Uhh nope. You can't even buy triple channel DDR3 at those speeds, and even high end boards only "officially" support up to 2000mhz. You would be very, very lucky to get X58 to run 2400mhz 24/7 stable.
