They are giving DDR3 Dual Channel memory a 30% increase in through put... Not sure what the actual gains are in tri-channel or Quad-channel... This gives those who already have 8 Gigs of memory of Dual Channel DDR3 to still use it I think they said clock speeds would be supported natively up to 2100MHz...

AMD has always lagged behind Intel in terms of DDR, but frankly, AMD was always performing better than Intel during those times. The performance of Dual Channel is quite alright, showing nearly the same performance gap that Core2Duo showed with DDR3 and DDR2.

But I agree. I don't really care if bulldozer does not go triple-channel. I have 8GB of RAM that is going to switch over if bulldozer is fast enough.

Some enthusiasts may need slots for their X-Fi audio and killer network card, like me for example.

Yeah, but the server version of BD is quad channel, it does seem strange that its deemed worthy in one environment and not in another. I know servers are different and use programs differently, but then Intel is going quad channel client, so they must think its worth it.

Im sure gigabyte will produce boards with at least 8 sata ports. Just like their 800 series.

The X58 platform was always overkill, and so will be the X68. All it means is that people have to spend more money than is necessary just to get the damn thing working. It is intel's money making strategy at its finest. There is no need for triple channel, much less quad channel on desktop offerings.

I am starting to get excited. I wasn't looking at the board really, I just kept staring at that black am3+ socket.
