Overclocking Phenom II 945 question - Page 3

Ok, I've managed to do some BIOS mods, and the attached is what I got. I'm not sure how to modify the memclock thing, so I just took it down a notch from the maximum of 800MHz.

In the end, I changed the reference clock to 235 (which booted into windows) before running Prime95 overnight. PC rebooted on me, but I didn't note the time.
And after 15 or so minutes, the temp is around 44-44.5 degrees Celcius.

For the BIOS settings, do refer to the two attached pictures.

So... which setting to tweak next? I'm not looking for much, just to overclock it to 3.6MHz (a 20% increase) with high stability so that I can put off my processor upgrade cycle.

I'm gonna switch back to 230 reference clock tonight and give it another go at Prime95 when I sleep. 230 is Prime95 stable for about 30 mins (it was a quick test) before I jacked it up to 235 and tested.

Also, the computer seemed to lag a little booting into Windows 7 (purely subjective), so is that something I should watch out for?

And thank you all for the time and effort you spent on helping me.

Prime 95 is a good way of really pushing a overclock if you want to do something like folding...but in my experience you have to use a variety of test...eg. when i had my system at 3.8ghz it took atleast 2 hours for me to get an error...now that is a valid reason to say yea thats unstable...but with the same settings i was able to play starcraft 2 almost the entire day and i got no freezes or anything...so again its up to what you want to do with your system and test and say it is "stable or not" Dont say that ok it did not pass prime 95 for atleast 10hours so i cant use that overclock

EDIT: not really an edit but i can understand why it may have been tricky for you to overclock...that bios looks confusing to me....in my msi bios there is a tab with performace zone or somthing or other and all the different settings are laid out in order with voltages and freq separate from eachother and every setting is described in the right side margin so you know what to look for...still if your getting trouble pm me an i'll help cause i know the hell it took me to learn this ****

I"m leaving mine at 3.3 for the time being for stability and life-span. Performance doesn't seem much affected either. I also spent most of last night re-routing the fans to create funnels for the CPU and hard disks. Not to mention some ghetto modding with plastics and such. CPU idle temp dropped to 27 degrees Celsius in anticipation of tonight's overclocking.

I'm going to try to push for a 240x15 tonight and see if it lasts long enough for gaming

Only if needed... seems like my gaming is going on fine... Like I said, I am only worried about Crysis 2, because Crysis 1 used a lot of processor power for a game
