i would say get the hd 6950 better value for money unlock to 6970+overclock
less heat lower power consumption
and dual video bios if one fails the back up wll start working.....
i would say hd6950 if u dont mind sacrificing cuda and physx which are mostly not used that much......
Overall GTX570 is about 9% to 12% over 6950 depended on resolutions. I think this really comes down to the price factor.

Don't think its possible to overclock after the card is unlocked to a 6970 due to the limit of to 6 pin power adapters vs the real 6970 that have 1x6 + 1x8 pin.

^ still its a steal at that price when compared to gtx 570 and the 2gb vram will help u if u r gaming on multiple monitors or very high res.....
1.) Price. If the 6950 is ~$90 cheaper, buy it. It will unlock to a 6970 and be around the same performance as a 570

2.) Is it primarily for gaming? 570 has CUDA, PhysX, better drivers, and is slightly faster. 6950 can support 4 monitors, bitstream HD audio over HDMI, is cheaper and slightly slower.

My PC is not for JUST gaming. I have 3 monitors and a 1080p projector. I game, and stream media to the projector. 1 card handling all of these monitors, and outputting HD audio to my receiver is exactly what I need, therefore the 6950 is the right card for me.
Granted, I can't fold... but I guess that's just a tradeoff.

If I had 1 or 2 monitors and only used it to game and fold, I'd get the 570.

I ordered the HD 6950 because of the 100$ price difference and because I don't fold.

Dang really? Thought you were gonna get the 570? Oh well. Have fun with it. Maybe you can sell it in a month and get the 570.
