Loose timings! I thought i needed tight. So would 1600 9-9-9 be better than 1333 7-7-7 then?
It would be just about the same performance yeah.

Silicon degradeation is bad
Wait what are you talking about 60c, I don't know of any modern CPU that is getting close to its limits at 60c, /sigh, keeping temps under 70c in synthetic stress tests is more than adequate.

60c is when the hot tub is too hot not the CPU.

AMD has a thermal limit of 62C So yes, it is way too hot especially with the overclock. Intel is different because they have different tempature limit's than AMD. Anything past 62C+ with overclocking will dramaticlly reduce the life because of silicon degradeation

Have it at 3.75ghz now. Nice and safe, can run it off low voltages. Think i need a new motherboard tbh.

Just for reference. Would a 955 @ ~3.75ghz bottleneck a 460 sli? Might be able to use sli-hack on the board i was thinking of getting. Should be able to overclock chip a little better too.

whats the point of oc'ing that phenom 955? its stock speed should suffice for your apps anyways.. i doubt you'd see real world performance unless you are benchmarking for sheer numbers (which is overrated)

But I wanna hit at least 3.6 GHz lol. Anyway, I ain't touching my volts until my heatsinks arrive.

And to OP, don't be afraid to OC again. Just be careful with the voltage and temps!

Overclocking my FSB seems to give me the best results, speeds up the memory. And you can tell the difference (well i can anyway), especially in games that are heavy CPU dependant.

Have just about enough money to replace or update my chip if needs be. Plus it's a lot of fun.

Overclocking the CPU, RAM and GPU may only give you an extra 15-30fps in games (dependant on many things of course). But it's free performance at the end of the day, so if you can do it safely - why not?
