The one. Click root won't work. It says its a 3rd party app. I'm starting to get frustrated with this.

go into your settings -> applications -> and check the unknown sources, allow installation of non-market applications.

I don't think this option is available on the stock AT&T ROM.

That is that setting has been on all HTC devices that I have touched and played with running Android. HTC Hero, HTC Evo, HTC Incredible, and HTC Eris.
