Edit: Didn't see the post above. Try fps_max 999. If that doesn't work, you'll have to create a cfg file to force it.

Find the cfg folder in lost coast> create a new notepad file named autoexec.cfg> type in fps_max 999>save in that folder>launch game.
And then it would look something like this. You guys asking for this one, I think 2600k and a 580 is a little overboard!!

You have to enable console in the keyboard advanced menu when you click options and then when you enable developer console before you do anything type in "fps_max 0"

Oh yeah to bring up console hit the ket left to "1" which is the tilde key aka ~

turn the resolution and graphic settings to the lowest settings no AA or AF either.

This way you make the game utilize mostly CPU power.

Thanks though for the results you provided though so far.

Hambone, still waiting for that x264 benchmark comparison. Doesn't take long at all to run it.

i am just recently getting back into desktop and have been on the laptop scene for quiet some time. I have a m17x with 920xm so only use to playing with multipliers, FSB, and TDP/TDC. Still learning the new Sandy BEAST . i am using this guide for basic and just got the basics right now to get the rig up and running. Picked up some stuff from microcenter and a gtx 470 from craigslist for $155 NEW/Mint.

i7 2600k
stock cooler (d14 on order)
Patriot 4gb 2x2gb 1600mhz (got some better memory on order)
600w psu
gtx 470
500gb 7.2k laptop hd(all i had _

i am running at 42x multiplier at 4.2ghz and when i tried 4.5ghz it BSOD on me. I am sure the stock cooler is not helping. A full wprime 1024 8 core test ran around 85 degrees at peak. Any tips and pointers or any benches you guys would like let me know. Any tips would be great and my settings as follows

42x 82-85 degrees (45 crashes and 43 is decent but 90 degrees on 1024m test)
vcore 1.3
qpi/vtt: 1.12
system agent voltage: 1.135
BCLK: 1005 = 100.5 mhz
SYStem memory: 16 = 1600mhz

thanks

So what is the conclusion? The 980X is like four times more expensive than 2600K, which is better?

2600K = Everyday use
980X = Heavy multi threaded apps. Encoding, Benchmark, ray tracing...ETC.
